New Life Children Support Shoe Box Appeal
Children from New Life Christian Fellowship, who regularly meet in Kilgetty Community Centre, have made up 15 shoe boxes for The 2013 Shoe Box Appeal hoping to bring some joy to those receiving them this Christmas.
The Church have been collecting and buying various items to put into shoe boxes which will go to children in Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Pakistan, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
Each child selected specific items to go into their boxes, thinking of the age and what they thought the child receiving them might enjoy. Boxes included items like toiletries, hats, gloves, toys and stationary. They then wrapped and decorated them ready to be shipped out.
"It is good to share what we have with children who have so little, especially at Christmas time. We hope and pray these boxes bring some joy to the children who receive them." Shared Rhonwen Evans who organised the New Life shoe box collection.
This is the 20th anniversary of charity Blythswood Care's Shoe Box Appeal, and over 1.6 Million boxes have been donated and distributed through the years.
Since 1966, Blythswood Care has combined the Christian message with practical help for those in need. Whether through filled shoeboxes at Christmas, relief and development aid or social projects for young and old, Blythswood brings hope to thousands in Europe, Africa and Asia. Blythswood is committed to long-term care projects in Romania, enabling disadvantaged children and young people to fulfil their potential.
"It's not difficult to choose gifts for someone who has so little. Things we take for granted can often be luxuries for people living in desperate poverty. With the support of people like you, Blythswood provides Christian care for body and soul." say Shoe Box Appeal organisers.
You can help us this year, or plan ahead for next, by filling boxes yourself or as part of your church, school or other organisations.
A donation of £2.50 towards carriage cost per box is suggested. For a list of simple items and specifications please visit The Shoe Box Appeal at www.blythswood.org
